Contraception and Family Planning

Contraception and Family Planning

The programme aims to promote and provide contraceptive services for women and young people, through educating women on the use of contraceptives , designing of IEC materials on effective use of contraceptives and advocating for government support.

Maternal and Child Health

The programme aims to promote quality health care for both women and child during pregnancy, after child birth and also strengthen the health system to ensure full enjoyment of quality health care among women, infants and young people

Nutrition

Nearly 6.6 million children die each year due to preventable and treatable causes, including 1 million babies who die on the day they are born. What’s more, malnutrition contributes to the deaths of children and a lifetime of poor health. More than 150 million children in developing countries are malnourished.

According to the World Bank:

  • Nigeria is the country with the 3rd highest absolute number of children who are stunted.2
  • 41% of children under the age of five are stunted, 23% are underweight, and 14% are wasted.2
  • 14% of infants are born with a low birth weight.

That’s why we are committed to providing health and nutrition programs that keep children alive and ensure they grow up healthy.

CWIDI works to improve health and nutrition of mothers, newborn babies and children, with special attention to poor and vulnerable communities. We work in hard-to-reach and impoverished communities..
