Women and Health Program

Women and Health Program

This programme recognizes the challenges women continue to encounter in many parts of Africa regarding access to essential sexual and reproductive health care services.

In response to these challenges, this programme seeks to advocate for the integration of family planning programmes including sexual and reproductive health services and HIV/AIDS into primary health care services.

It also advocate for the advancement of sexual and reproductive health and rights of women through human rights training for women and health care providers.

Furthermore, the programme recognizes that a rights-based approach to women’s health needs is crucial to achieving some of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

Thus, the programme will engage with policy makers at national, state and local government levels in order to ensure the designing and implementation of policies and programmes that are gender-sensitive and culturally appropriate to the needs of women, particularly young women.
