A Journey of Hope and Purpose – Blessing’s Dream to Become a Nurse
When 15-year-old Blessing arrived at Ichwa Camp, she saw firsthand how limited access to healthcare affected displaced families. The nurses who cared for the sick inspired her deeply. “That’s when I decided I wanted to become a nurse,” she said softly. “I want to help people in places like this.”
Through CWIDI’s adolescent girls’ leadership training, Blessing’s dream grew into purpose. She became a peer educator, teaching other girls about body changes, education, and self-empowerment. “Leaving my camp to speak at Abagena was one of the best experiences of my life,” she said proudly. “It means a lot to me — I’m beginning to see myself beyond this environment.”
Now, Blessing encourages her peers to pursue education or learn a trade, reminding them that “even in the camp, you can start small and still dream big.” Her story is a beacon of hope — proof that when girls are empowered with knowledge and opportunity, they become agents of change within their communities.
