Empowering Displaced Girls in Benue: Voices of Change and Resilience
In the heart of Benue State, where thousands of families displaced by conflict struggle to rebuild their lives, young girls are discovering strength, hope, and purpose through empowerment and education. Amid the uncertainty of life in displacement camps, the Center for Women in Development and Innovation (CWIDI) is nurturing voices of resilience — guiding adolescent girls to reclaim their confidence, redefine their dreams, and shape brighter futures for themselves and their communities.
Across camps in Ichwa, Abagena, and the International Market areas of Makurdi, five remarkable girls — Doose, Mary, Shom, Mary Gboko, and Blessing — are living proof that change begins when girls are given knowledge, guidance, and safe spaces to grow.
